Who we are

The trustees aim to preserve the Trust’s property in perpetuity under local control for the purpose of affording to the public facilities for recreation.

Trustees look after property at Lake Bank, Blea Brows, and the old railway line at Haws Bank.  As owners of the bed of the lake, the trustees appoint a Lake Warden who is authorised to issue licenses for the 180 moorings on Coniston Water.

Coniston Water encroaches on the five local parishes of Coniston, Torver, Blawith & Subberthwaite, Colton and Satterthwaite. Trustees accept grant applications from voluntary bodies and charities within these five parishes.
